FLASC, TechBinder and Elestor nominated for Offshore Wind Innovators Awards 2022

Nominated for OWI Awards 2022
Three innovative parties will compete for the Offshore Wind Innovators Award 2022 on January 25. The jury has nominated FLASC, TechBinder and Elestor for the jury and the audience award. The jury believes that these three parties make the strongest contribution to the issues of the offshore energy transition on all criteria. During the Q-Meeting on January 25, these three parties will pitch their idea and the winners will be announced.

The submissions show that the offshore wind sector is working hard to realize the upscaling that lies ahead. The jury, consisting of Simon Watson from TU Delft (chair), Suzanne van de Beek from Vattenfall and Jakob Bergvelt from Green Giraffe, assessed the submissions on innovative strength, market maturity, feasibility, and their relevance to the energy transition in the North Sea. The Offshore Wind Innovators Awards is an initiative of the Offshore Wind Innovators network, a network for innovative parties that is part of TKI Wind op Zee.

The three nominees for the most innovative party in 2022 are:

FLASC has developed an innovative form of energy storage that can be directly integrated into a floating offshore platform. Energy is stored offshore using a hydropneumatic liquid piston driven by a reversible pump turbine.

TechBinder improves human-machine interaction by using and combining new technologies. TechBinder drives efficiency, optimization, and sustainability by improving the way people and machines work together.

Elestor's pioneering energy storage based on the flow battery principle stores electricity at a fraction of the cost of traditional batteries, safely and with a long service life.

The winners will be announced, after a pitch, on January 25 during the Q-Meeting where all stakeholders from the offshore wind sector are present.
