Finalists Offshore Wind Innovation Award announced

The jury of the Offshore Wind Innovation Award 2017 announced the three finalists. ECE Offshore, NextOcean en Jules Dock will compete for the award for the most appealing innovation in offshore wind

Both the jury award and the public award will be announced on December 6, during the Netherlands Offshore Wind Q-meeting of Siemens and Van Oord in Rotterdam.

The Offshore Wind Innovation Award is a recognition of the Dutch innovation power within this young and dynamic sector. The award is an initiative of the Offshore Wind Innovators community, which aims to increase the visibility of innovative entrepreneurs.

A jury of experts reviewed the applications on innovativeness, social and economic impact and entrepreneurship. The jury consists of Bert Stuij (RVO Sustainable & Climate subsidy programs), Ernst van Zuijlen (GROW) and Bart Blokhuis (PDENH).

The three nominees are:

ECE Offshore: OASYS - Offshore Acoustic Systems.

OASYS Cable, is a vessel-fixed cable monitoring system. It offers real-time detection of cable geometry and cable integrity. The touchdown location can be compared with planned route position listing.

Next Ocean: Wave Predictor

Wave Predictor predicts when and where high waves occur. This enables offshore operators to choose an optimal time window free of high waves for the most critical phase of their operation rather than wait for better conditions or ‘hope’ for the best.

Jules Dock: Lightweight Composite Towers

Composite towers for the offshore wind industry provide a lightweight solution for large and heavy structures. In a 10 MW tower, 240 tons of steel is no longer needed.

The three finalists present their innovation during the renowned Q-meeting of the offshore wind industry on December 6 at Van Oord in Rotterdam. Both the jury and the audience will choose the most promising innovation.

In recognition of their nomination, the three finalists will have the opportunity to speak at the Offshore Seminar on February 15. In addition to publicity, the winner can count on a one-day workshop and a mentorship from an industrial partner that meets his needs.
