Albatrozz and BeeX winners of the SSE Renewables Offshore Wind Innovation Challenge!

After a selection trajectory the past months, today we had the finals of the 6th Offshore Wind Innovation Challenge, with SSE Renewables sharing two of their challenges with the Offshore wind pioneers in our network.

1. Flatten the curve: Producing a constant stable baseload of energy from an offshore wind farm.
2. Monitoring and mapping of ecology.

On the Flatten the curve challenge, Albatrozz was the pioneer convincing the jury of specialists from SSE Renewables the most with their solution that mimic the feathers of the albatross on wind turbine blades to harvest more energy at lower wind speeds.

On the monitoring and mapping of ecology challenge, BeeX was the number one, with their Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (HAUV's) that can monitor underwater life autonomously saving time, money and GHG emissions.
